I can remember every NES game I bought as a kid. Here's the list: Gunsmoke, Duck Tales, Pro Wrestling, SMB3, Rygar, Ice Climber, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Metroid, Popeye, Rad Racer, Wild Gunman, Ninja Kid, Commando, Bayou Billy, Gradius, Castlevania, Excitebike, Ikari Warriors, Karnov, Monster Party, 1942, Tiger Heli, and Base Wars

Pat buying The Three Stooges isn't surprising. We didn't know if games were good or not bad then. So we picked stuff that was recognizable. That's why every game store has 50 copies of Top Gun. How great would it have been if licensed games ever turned out good? Duck Tales was probably the first good one...and one of the only good ones.

I honestly disagree about the collector package. Seems pretty low effort and uninteresting to me. Meanwhile, the JP collector edition comes with two joycons that look like Famicom controllers. There's a reason why that one sold out immediately and you can still pre-order the US version. edit: Actually looks like Amazon JP got more in stock.

I expect every used game to be dirty, that doesn't mean that's the way it should be. It takes like 2 minutes to clean contacts with alcohol. I definitely don't think that time makes it justifiable for people charging more than the going rate. Any retro game store, online or physical location has no excuse not to clean games. It's disrespectful to the hobby you are profiting from and provides zero customer service/satisfaction.

Hancock still does not have his museum up yet while taking in a ton of revenue, while there are some examples of no-name media personalities that spent tens of thousands of dollars of their OWN money while not making any revenue at all and still got a museum up, albeit briefly in the midsts of the worst pandemic we have had in a century. Resident Board Game Snob of the Podcast here: IP Licensed Board Games used to be garbage. Many of them are pretty incredible now. Marvel Champions, Marvel United, many many Lotr games, Star Wars Rebellion, battlestar galactica, dune imperium, and tons of others. They are quite often very good now.

Hi thanks im a subscriber. Question please : So all those black cartridges that say Tengen on them are AUTHENTIC ? Theyre not knock offs and ok to sell on Ebay ? How do we know if a cartridge is not an authentic licensed one ? Like those gold ones that are shiny with like 4 games in one or with a switch on the back of the cart... Those are not Authentic and not ok to sell on Ebay right ? Thanks. Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon

I would try not to worry on the book front. Like you said, they have a dedicated team to handle these things, they can’t operate in gray areas. They can’t get ‘in their feelings’, for legal reasons as well as others. Consistency is key. If the books were good before and in good faith it doesn’t help them to be willy nilly.

The lego set has alot of unique pieces in it which bumps up the cost since they have to actually mold & produce the pieces in smaller batchs

Only trademarks need to be protected to be retained. Copyrights don't expire until Disney says they do. Nintendo doesn't mention Tetris because it's owned by The Tetris Company; Nintendo is just the licensee and publisher. It's why we're stuck with Panel de Pon instead of the way more adorable Tetris Attack on NSO.

Why not a Sega World Championships?

Its a head-scratcher for sure. Nintendo is notorious for shutting down anyone trying to make a penny on their brands. And currently, Nintendo is trying to hock an empty gold cartridge preorder bonus for their Switch version. Its like a kickstarter trying to make them look bad/worse

Nintendo Power had a special issue for the 25th of the NES. Other than that Nintendo focused on Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary. Special Wii, DSi XL and the Mario All-Stars release for the Wii.

I bet you won't care but the idea about the early iPhones being so common there must be a lot sealed is missing the fact that there were shortages of the phones and people had to line up to get them. They also only released them on AT&T at the time (in the USA). Due to being locked and being shortages there wasn't anybody with huge inventory of phones that went unsold and they were too expensive for average people to buy 2 or 3 to store sealed ones (they were like $400-$600). Most sealed ones now are from flippers who bought them at the time and couldn't or didn't sell them.

9:15 Just a note you have to enforce and defend trademarks, or there is a danger of them becoming generic. You DON'T have to defend or enforce copyright, you either have it or you don't. For example . The song that was sampled in 'Down Under' by Men at Work had not had it's copyright enforced for decades till someone bought the rights and sued them and won.
